EARLY BIRD SPECIAL
Renowned for his magnificent Australian Landscapes John needs little or no introduction with a career spanning over 50 years. The workshop will begin each day with a short theory session followed by a step-by-step demonstration of each painting by John. You will learn how to enhance your painting by exploring and applying how to mix colours that will give you harmony throughout your painting, how to compose a design, understand the use of reflected light, and how to handle transparent colours using traditional methods of landscape painting. John is a Master of this process taught to him over 50 years ago by some of the great Australian landscape painters.
The plan is to cover the basics of our usual 4 day workshop and then for the next 4 days create a much larger and detailed painting usually a 90x60cm. We will also have at least one plein air day subject to the weather. Also we have a day off after the first 4 days to rest or explore the island.
For country and interstate students, we can organise easels for you. Just let us know at the time of booking.
Accommodation: We usually rent two cottages on Bribie Island for those who want accommodation for the workshop. Both are fully self-contained very comfortable and each person will have their own room with shared facilities. Please let us know when you book if you are interested…Price varies from $140 to $190 depending on the cottage.
“John Wilson is a premium Australian artist – he is also a masterful teacher, who generously makes his extensive expertise readily accessible. Over eight days John systematically stepped us through demonstrations and our own workshop paintings. Starting with engaging ‘simpler’ paintings, and then more expansive work as our understanding developed. Without doubt, participants were astounded with what they took off their easels in this workshop. A workshop not to be missed…….” Alan Roberts
“Ron…. just a short note to thank you for the recent workshop with John Wilson.
John is not only an amazing artist; but he also has that rare ability to teach others drawing from his 50 years of wisdom and success as an artist. His attention to detail and methodical approach to painting ensures students in his workshop have the best possible opportunity to learn and improve their own skills. In addition, John is a great guy who genuinely cares about those in his workshop.
A great workshop and professionally run. I would highly recommend attending one of John’s workshops organised by yourself to anyone looking to improve their landscape painting skills.” Regards, Rod Moore
